Felixstowe Community Choir recently recorded You Only Live Twice, the James Bond theme as part of the Sing A Song for Suffolk Family Carers project, which was played on BBC Radio Suffolk. The choir donated £400 from their raffle and weekly subs for the Eight Days a Week Campaign, for a new Mobile Carers unit for Suffolk.
Choir members are currently raising money for their two new adopted charities which are Alzheimer Research and EACH.
Since the choir began in October 2012 they have raised £3,400 for charity as well s appearing in charity concerts
“We usually fundraise for two charities at a time” explained choir founder Rachel Sloane. “Members nominate their favourite charities and then vote on which should receive the proceeds of our weekly and concert raffles.”
The choir meets on Mondays throughout the year (including Bank Holidays) at the Orwell Hotel and anyone over 18 is welcome to attend. Singers pay £4 and there is the charity raffle.
