Felixstowe Community Choir News Release
A small Felixstowe charity and a much better known one, have each received cheques for £500 from Felixstowe Community Choir. Members voted at the start of the year for which charities they wished to support , and the proceeds of their weekly raffle was presented at a recent choir meeting at The Orwell Hotel, Felixstowe.
The winning charities were Hope Trust, which supports lonely older people in Felixstowe, and St Elizabeth Hospice which provides care in East Suffolk and South Norfolk.
"We are delighted to be able to give such sizeable sums to the charities, one based in Felixstowe and one in Ipswich," explained choir founder Rachel Sloane. "Members nominated their favourite charities and then voted on which of the sixteen we should donate the proceeds of our weekly raffle and concert raffle to. The size of the donations reflect the growing popularity of the choir. We are singing on Mondays throughout August and the raffle will resume in September."
Both charities were very pleased with the donations and their representatives, Paul and Sheila Taylor from the Hope Trust and Emily Sheridan, Community Fundraiser from St Elizabeth Hospice, happily joined in singing songs by Divine Comedy, The Beatles and Adele.
Felixstowe Community Choir will decide upon their next chosen charities in September. The choir is meeting at The Orwell Hotel on Monday’s throughout the summer and singers over 18 are welcome to attend.
